A downloadable game for Windows

Help Stitch, our crochet doll hero, as they battle their way through various foes throughout the attic.

Instructions:

Each turn you start out with three resources:  one attack, one skill, and one special. Use cards of the corresponding type to defeat your foes. Enemies will show their intent with an overhead icon, hover over it for more details. Don't forget to prepare for their incoming attacks!

After you use your resources you can defend with leftover cards. Checking the auto button will automatically defend with the highest defense values when you end your turn or click defend.

As you win fights and progress through the game try to collect cards and trinkets which work together with your ever evolving strategy!

Note from the developer:

This is an alpha release which only includes the first act to begin playtesting and gathering feedback. Please leave a comment if anything is broken or you have suggestions/ideas. I would love to hear from you!

On the art:  I have been developing the functionality of the game with placeholder AI art until I am happy with the state of the game enough to hire an artist to replace my placeholders. I will get rid of the AI slop as soon as humanly possible ^_^

Thank you so much! I have a long way to go but I am so glad people are liking the direction I'm going.

The game concept is good and has a lot of positive things going for it! The main character and everything shown thus far clearly demonstrates that the developer has love for his creation, and I felt it. On first blind playthrough, I played for 2 hours straight exploring the card combinations and doing my first mini boss fight! And I don't particularly spend too much time playing games nowadays, but it sucked me right in. The meticulousness of the card system is mechanically the most impressive for me in this game. I loved the ability to "fuse" cards to create a stronger card effect. The fun elements are there and the next step I believe is polish.

The game loop itself is solid. Fight and gain more cards/treasures for your deck, go for tougher battles, progress the game. It also has a mysterious and likeable main character that you control and a mysterious story character (Gerard) to egg you on in between battles and build the game lore. It has boss fights and other encounters to add flavor to the main loop.

The current visuals have the potential to be refined to create something great. It's got that "adventure with lots of heart" going for it. The game just needs more visual cohesion to carry things through to the deeper game sections, and a little bit more refinement in the UI. This is understandable since its a very early alpha which is intended for people to experience the game loop first and foremost and for the developer to check if the concept works and flesh things out further. The ingredients are already here in this early alpha. The developer clearly has put a lot of thought (and work) into what we're seeing now and has an apt view for what makes a compelling card game. It reminded me of the best I've played, like MTG and Legend of the Five Rings. I can see a great game after a few polish passes.

Can't wait to see how the development of this game progresses!

Thank you so much for your kind words and very thorough review! I am glad to hear that you found the mechanics engaging and enough fun elements to keep you playing.

I hear your feedback about the visual cohesion, I definitely am planning several more passes to improve this aspect. With this positive feedback I plan to make a push to complete the game loop fully, and then I can start on my polish passes in earnest.

Magic the Gathering, Slay the Spire, Dominion and the many, many other card games I have played in my past definitely inspired this game, so I am happy that came through as well.

I will work hard on finishing this game to bring it fully to life! Stay tuned for updates ^_^

This was really fun and engrossing to play, very promising, keep at it and good job!

This is honestly exactly what I wanted feedback on. It sounds like if expand on what I have it has promise. Thank you so much for trying it out!
