Version 0.0.6 - Developer Notes


Another couple of weeks have passed and I was able to get a lot done in this time frame. I wanted to go ahead and do another release now, as a friend came across a game breaking bug when facing the toy cars. So I am putting out a new version with that issue fixed and the rest of the content which I have completed. Here is the breakdown:

Addressing feedback:

  • Fixed bug with toy cars which prevented the fight from continuing past the first turn.
  • More ways to remove cards from deck:
    • Added remove card from deck option in shop
    • Created random story event which removes a card
    • Created crafting station which allow you to remove a card to power up your deck
  • Increased hand size from 4 -> 5, to hopefully make it a bit easier to get binding cards and components in your hand at the same time. 
  • Fixed the offscreen tooltips and made them closer to the card they are describing

New stuff:

  • Made improvements to the early game. Now the first two fights grant you a skill card and a modifier card respectively, and then you get your thread to combine those cards afterwards. Gives the player a bit more choice in how to shape the starter deck without overloading them with choices at the very beginning.
  • New random story event involving an apprentice artist doll. 
  • New random story event involving a carnie clown. 
  • Added a new special card which trades life for drawing a card.
  • Rest site now allows for permanent skill binding in addition to attack binding.
  • Added effect to existing card where you gain +1 attack when it is discarded (instead of cast). 

Bugfixes:

  • Refactored cantrip and cotton craft subtypes to be controlled fully by gameplay tags so that after binding only the correct tooltip and type remains. For example combining a cantrip with a regular skill will create a regular skill, so the cantrip tooltip and type need to fall away. 
  • Fixed a bug where I was pulling in the stats from hand when binding two skills together, but this creates an issue when you have status effects which change the stats of your cards.
